It doesn't help that I have purchased a lot more polish that needs to be shown...Oy. It's sad that I am so behind because I should be on top of things now that I'm a homemaker. Not so much. My husband has been keeping me busy and running me ragged! In the very best possible way, mind you. It is amazing to be able to spend so much time with him and with our dear friends.Let's move on to what's been hiding in my archives then. Sinful Colors Rise and Shine Three coats, no top coat Three coats with top coatRise and Shine is an amazing teal that dries satin matte and has a subtle shimmer. It is a two coater but I almost always prefer three. Formula is great and dry time pretty danged quick. I am in love! Sinful Colors Sugar, SugarThree coats with top coatSugar, Sugar is true metallic red with a jelly-ish formula and a hint of gold. The formula was really nice and dry time was acceptable. For some reason, I was wanting a red like this and it reminded me that I was kicking myself for not owning OPI An Affair in Red Square. Random. My memory of  that OPI said this was a dupe. However...I remembered that my mom has Red Square. OPI An Affair in Red Square  Three coats, no top coatSugar, Sugar and Red Square are definitely not dupes. Sugar has more golden tone and tiny bits of gold glitter. I actually preferred the coverage of Sugar better too. OPI wins with their brush, it's always fabulous.Overall, I prefer Sugar, Sugar because it had all of the elements I wanted in a metallic red. I would never kick out Red Square though. It's terribly elegant and lovely. Well, that does it for today. I'm going to have lunch with the besties and finish up a special project for my girlfriend and her husband. I love surprising people!Thank you for coming by. I hope you have a lovely day! Feeling fab http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/feeling-fab.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/feeling-fab.html Mon, 14 May 2012 10:00:00 +0000 Good morning!Today I have a couple of recent nail looks to show you. I got a new camera for my birthday and I've had a wonderful time using it. I got a Kodak Easyshare Z5120. The best part? It's PURPLE! It has some crazy good macro going on. My Nikon was good but this really beats it.There is still so much to learn about it but I'm grateful that the weather has been so lovely. It's been inspiring not only for my manicures but in testing out all of the features of my camera.Anyway...let's move on to the photos.Ring finger is Nina Ultra Pro Ink-ling, three coatsAll others are China Glaze Sea Spray, three coatsI did this manicure the weekend before last when I attended the Eugene Just For Women Expo. The event was really fun. There was shopping, fashion shows and salon booths doing hair and nails. There wasn't a whole lot of beauty related booths beyond Mark and Mary Kay reps. There was also a lot of booths for party shopping companies. However, there was a Jamberry Nails booth and I spent a lot of time talking with the rep there. I received a sample and I'm looking forward to trying it. I also tried out a Dead Sea Salt scrub that was simply lovely. I received a lot of compliments on my manicure while I was at the event. Even a couple of nail techs liked it!I have to say, the color combo went together really nicely. I made the joke that these colors were the skies of Florence. Florence, Oregon that is! (Florence is on the coast. It's usually grey, foggy and cold.)Tuesday, I delivered a home cooked lunch to Matt, on my bike. It was a beautiful day so we had a "picnic" in the back of the truck. On the way back home, I rode along the Willamette and took a ton of pictures.Since it was so sunny, I had to wear a sunny, sparkly manicure too.Base is L.A. Colors Tahiti Sunrise, two coatsSponged with China Glaze Riveting,L.A. Colors Electrified and Color Club Daisy Does ItThis was just so shiny and sparkly. And dangerous while I was riding my bike. I kept finding myself checking out my nails. Good thing my city has a comprehensive bike path system! Now that I have a new camera and lots of sun, it's time to get all of my backlog of swatching taken care of. Today I am off to hike Mt. Pisgah. I'll swatch tomorrow...Thank you for coming by. I hope you have a glorious day! Chop it, remix it (Pure Ice Vinyl Remix) http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/chop-it-remix-it-pure-ice-vinyl-remix.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/chop-it-remix-it-pure-ice-vinyl-remix.html Fri, 11 May 2012 10:00:00 +0000 Good day!Today I am bringing you some more of the Pure Ice Vinyl Remix. I wanted to show some other ways that it can be used as well as demonstrate more of it's color reveal. One does not necessarily need the Platinum Base Coat to achieve the color change of this collection and, honestly, any white creme will do. But what I wanted to show was that one is not simply limited to white creme for a base!I had a lot of fun playing with this and I keep coming up with more ideas each time.Let's move on to some photos: Vinyl Remix top coat in Emcee Me overunnamed Maybelline iridescent white, no top coatI wanted to see how Emcee me could look over an iridescent white. I was hoping it would appear less a green based yellow. It kind of does but what was interesting was the duochrome shining through the crackle itself. I like how this turned out because it gives me another use for this rather icky white. (It's not a good layering polish and on its own it is very, um, older lady.)Vinyl Remix Rave over CQ Rustic Dream with top coatRave has been a bit of a disappointment for me because the orange isn't as vibrant as I would like. However, it amps up the orange in Rustic Dream. Rave does not muddy or hide the amazing duochrome of Rustic Dream either. I tried Rave over a lot of oranges in my stash and it just looked like black crackle over orange. This was the best combination I tried. I have some more oranges to try with this though. If any wow me, I will share them.Another way that these can be used is over a nude-ish or nude polish. Base is Orly Pure PorcelainIndex: RaveMiddle: DJ SpinnerRing: Emcee MePinkie: Vintage RemixRave over Pure Porcelain, no top coatBetter orange color!DJ Spinner over Pure Porcelain, no top coatLove how the green is so vibrant.Emcee Me over Pure PorcelainFinally, more the yellow tone I wanted!I think I have found the best base to achieve the yellow I want from Emcee Me. Orly never fails me! That said, a nude or nude-ish polish is a great base for these. Especially if you don't want a truly bright white.I had some more fun with some nail art as well as more layering over other colors.Index is Vintage Remix over ChG Sea SprayRing finger is Vintage Remix over Essie Barefoot in BlueMiddle and pinkie are Platinum Base CoatI made a heart stencil for the middle and tape to make the chevron on the pinkieand I used Vintage Remix by itself. I love the difference in tone of Vintage Remix over Sea Spray and Barefoot in Blue. Finally, I wanted to show you something that is really different about Vinyl Remix. Each Vinyl Remix crackle can be applied to base coat. This is two coats. It does crack but what happens next is rather cool.Platinum Base Coat over the following:Index: RaveMiddle: DJ SpinnerRing: Emcee MePinkie: Vintage RemixGranted, these swatches are rather thick and bubbled. But with a thinner coat and perhaps more than a minute to dry, you can achieve a better result. This "reverse" technique is pretty cool. The color really pops and the crackle is even more textured. This is similar to the jelly crackle sandwiches, albeit a creme. This is something I want to play more with because I see a lot of possibilities.I saw the "reverse" technique in this video:Vinyl Remix from BariBubble on Vimeo. These are just some of the ideas I came up with and it was a lot of fun to do. This expanded my use of Vinyl Remix and they will have a happy place in my nail art box!Thank you for coming by. I hope you enjoyed Vinyl Remix!Disclosure: Vinyl Remix was sent to me for review. The opinions expressed are my own and do not represent those of Bari Cosmetics and Pure Ice. Baby, bump that track (Pure Ice Vinyl Remix) http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/baby-bump-that-track-pure-ice-vinyl.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/baby-bump-that-track-pure-ice-vinyl.html Thu, 10 May 2012 11:59:00 +0000 Good morning!Today I am bringing you one of the newest releases from Pure Ice, Vinyl Remix.Vinyl Remix is a newer spin on the crackle polish trend. It comes in a duo package of a white base color and a special crackle polish. I'll be showing you four of the shades available.First, I wanted to show you how this was packaged:This came with a cute record shaped nail file.As you can see, the crackle polish looks black. Sounds interesting...Here is what Platinum Base Coat looks like on its own:Platinum Base Coat, two coats, no topPlatinum base coat is a white creme polish. I have to be honest, I adore this. My favorite white creme polishes have always been Zoya Snow White and WnW Mad Styles. Platinum base coat is superb. It was beautifully opaque in two coats and hardly streaky. It dries really quickly and is a lovely clean, white.Smashing job, Pure Ice!Let's move on to the crackles and see what it is that makes them special.Vintage Remixtop photo: no top coatbottom photo: with top coatEmcee MeNo top coatRaveTop coat on index and ringDJ SpinnerI had a little fun swatching this one...I didn't wait long enough to let this dry before I added top coat to middle and ring fingers. As you can see, all of the crackle top coats appear black in bottle. Once applied to the white base coat, they tint the white with color. I really enjoyed the effect although it wasn't "magical" per se. All of these top coats applied beautifully, dried quickly and with a matte finish. They crack very well and I was impressed that they will still crack even if you apply lightly over an already cracked area. I don't like that this looks like black crackle, I wish it was clearer that this was purple, green, etc. crackle as well as show the tint. I do understand that it's not possible considering what it is you get. Just shooting an idea out there!I was most excited for Emcee Me and DJ Spinner since I hoard yellows and greens for Duck Day manicures. I was a little disappointed with Emcee Me because it was more of a green based yellow. My assumption was that it might be brighter just by judging the sticker on the bottle. Of course, once I went to apply it I could tell that it was a very deep seaweed green in bottle. Thus, the end result makes sense but I still long for a lemony yellow.DJ Spinner was lovely. I appreciate it's almost neon tone. Very helpful for my Duck Day manis since one of the uniform combos features a neon green. I would have loved to have seen more of an emerald tone but this is still pleasing.Rave wasn't as impressive without top coat. The orange was very brown toned and in some light could appear brown. Once top coat was applied, the orange tint was much more vibrant. My other issue was that it is similar to Oregon State's colors. I don't like the Beavs, so...that's just me and not a knock against Pure Ice. Vintage Remix is my favorite since it is purple. I had a lot of fun playing with this and I think it's the most versatile of the collection.Overall, I was quite pleased with these. Platinum Base Coat is by far one of the best white cremes I've used. I still enjoy the crackle trend and I appreciate Pure Ice doing something a little different.Do you need this? Probably and probably not. As much as I like the packaging and the concept, I wish they would sell the top coats apart from the base. Because if you want all the colors, you will have much more white creme polish than you may want.If you're over the crackle trend, you will not be interested. If you are like me, you may only opt for the colors that interest you. I do recommend this for the novice. It's an easy way to enter into nail art or ease into trying different colors. As always, Pure Ice is very affordable. However, I do not have the price point for this but I presume that it will be under $10. This collection will be available at Walmart and should be popping upon shelves now.Tomorrow, I will be showing you more of Vinyl Remix and some ideas to use it!@BariBeauty #PureIce #VinylRemix Disclosure: These items were sent to me for review. May Day IS the Lamb's Day (Very photo heavy.) http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/may-day-is-lambs-day-very-photo-heavy.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/may-day-is-lambs-day-very-photo-heavy.html Fri, 4 May 2012 10:00:00 +0000 Good morning! My birthday was on Tuesday (May Day, neato!) and I wanted to show you my mani as well as my haul.I was super spoiled by Matt and it was a great day filled with lots of love, surprises and warm wishes.Thank you to my special online friends who wished me a happy day. Your kindness and consideration always touches my heart!Let's start with the mani:Index and ring are Orly Fowl Play with a smidge of Kleancolor Chunky Holo PurpleAll others are Love & Beauty Purple Jellytopped with Essie Shine of the Times and Kleancolor Chunky Holo PurplePurple is my favorite color and I always wear a purple mani for my birthday. This year, I wanted flakes and holo and I sure got 'em! I'm so thrilled to finally have Fowl Play. You have no idea how bad I was lemming that.As for the item I'm holding, it's a "Moongram" pendant. It's part of something truly special to me that I will be sharing in a moment. Here's what Matt spoiled me with. He's been listening! Tony Iommi's autobiography.Great read and very illuminating about him, Black Sabbath, Ozzy and Ronie James Dio.He is an amazing man and I am in awe of him. Glenn Hughes's autobiography. If you do not know who he is, shame on you.Glenn Hughes is one of my very favorite singers and he is a phenomenal bassist. If you're curious, check out anything from his newest band Black Country Communionor Youtube my favorite Deep Purple song, "You Keep on Moving."Both of these books are so wonderful to have. And since Deep Purple and Black Sabbath are tied at number one for my favorite band(s), totally appropriate.  This. This is the height of Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal geekery.I just love Eddie Trunk and I never miss an episode of "That Metal Show."Matt often says I'm the female counterpart of Eddie because I have a lotof  Hard Rock/Metal trivia stored away. And I love UFO almost as much as he does.I would love to meet Eddie Trunk someday. We would have so much to discuss.Of course, I was super excited about this gift.So I tweeted Eddie Trunk and he replied!Damn right, I favorited that one.Matt says he has a final gift on the way to me but what I want to show you was the one gift he HAD to get me: This is the LE boxed  digibook edition of Moonspell'snew album, Alpha Noir.Another shot of the "moongram" pendant that came with.It is amazing, of course. But it's also a cool concept."Alpha Noir" and "Omega White" are essentially Moonspell's music halved."AN" is their extreme metal side and "OW" is their gothic rock side. Inside the box. The cover art for "Omega White."Top shot: "Omega White" CD and lyric sheets.Bottom shot: "Alpha Noir" CD and lyric sheets. Finally, this photo to demonstrate that this was packaged in a book. There was also a poster of the album art that came withbut I am saving that for the next time Moonspell comes to Oregon.I WILL have it signed. That, my friends, is how you do it. If you want someone to buy a CD, you must not only have great music but you must give them something they would not get from downloading. Moonspell has always been good at this. E-book with CD? They did that with their "Antidote" album. Moonspell has always had some kind of interesting concept with each album but never in that pretentious "concept album" way. As we all know, the best concept album in METAL (Not looking at you, Pink Floyd.) is Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime."Believe it.Pretty awesome haul, no?Finally, I want to show you the gift I received from my friend, Jordan.I've told you about her before but I want to reiterate just how madly in love I am with her. She is so lovely, sweet and fun. Jordan painted this for me and it will be hung with pride in my coming nail polish room.Isn't it gorgeous? She also got me some stunning carnations and a super sweet card. Jordan has a lot of talent and she's done some really awesome work. She's going to paint another picture for me when I redocorate my bedroom. She also sells some of her work on Etsy, so if you are interested, you can check them out HERE.It was a wonderful birthday and I had a lovely day. I'm grateful to have had 36 wonderful years on this Earth and privileged to know and love such inspiring, creative, compassionate people.  I include all of you in this sentiment. Thank you so much. Love to you all! DUCK-y does it! http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/duck-y-does-it.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/duck-y-does-it.html Thu, 3 May 2012 10:00:00 +0000 Good morning!I showed you a swatch and a water marble with Color Club Daisy Does It. I told you I purchased it because it would be perfect for my Duck Day manicures. Who knew I would get to do it so soon?Last Saturday, Matt and I went to the Spring Game at Autzen Stadium. It's a fun event that pits the offense coaching staff against the defense coaching staff in a quick game. It's also a chance for new players to show their skills and returning players to bask in the glory. The Ducks also use the opportunity to hold a can food drive benefiting Food for Lane County. This year, they also honored the Armed Forces in a really neat ceremony at the end of the game. There was also a re-enlistment ceremony for two Navy sailors in which they were congratulated by Coach Chip Kelly and former Duck (and current Baltimore Raven), Haloti Ngata. What touched me the most was the Kilcullen Memorial Scholarship awarded to two students, in honor of fallen Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen.Afterward, we walked a few feet to PK Park and caught a Duck Baseball game. (The Ducks won over Cal, yay!)  It was a glorious day and the weather was simply lovely. Here a few photos of the events and my nails. The Fighting Ducks vs. The Mighty DucksThis also my favorite place in Eugene... This was a special ceremony honoring the Armed Forces. The servicemen and women from all branches lined up one side and the football players on the other. The players gave the servicepeople their game jerseys andin return received a comemorative coin.PK Park, home of Duck and Eugene Ems baseball.Duck VaderI thought for sure I had found the West Coast boyfriend for the always awesome Pink Sith.FINALLY! THE MANI!!!Ring finger is Color Club Daisy Does It with ChG Black MeshI added a thin coat of DDI over the crackle to finishAll other fingers are Orly Lucky Duckwith ChG Lightening BoltThose were topped with a thin coat of ChG Ray-diant.There ya have it! It was a great day for me and I think I even convinced Matt that baseball is actually fun.Thank you for coming by and I hope you have a lovely day! A dollop of Daisy Does It http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/dollop-of-daisy-does-it.html http://lambchopmobile.blogspot.com/2012/05/dollop-of-daisy-does-it.html Wed, 2 May 2012 16:00:00 +0000 Good day!Today I have a little bit of swatching and a little bit of water marbling for you.Color Club has definitely scored a win for the recent Take Wing collection. For good reason too. Beautiful, glass flecked colors? Yes please! I realize that it has a lot of dupes but eh, what you gonna do?Anyway. Please enjoy even though you have seen it a million times already.Daisy Does It, three coats no topin sunSame as above in shadeThis applies like a dream and dries really fast. I absolutely had to have it. I am a sucker for a good glass fleck. However, I NEEDED this because it's so unique and perfect for Duck Day manicures. What is so frustrating about this is that I could not capture the green flash of this. I am not kidding. It has a green flash.Which is PERFECT for me. It is subtle but I promise it is there. So, if you like yellow, you must get this. It is that special.Of course, I can never leave well enough alone. I had to try and water marble with it. Wouldn't you know it, the day I did so and photographed it, the ever wonderful PolishAholic did a glorious water marble with Daisy Does It. Hers is gorgeous!!I'm undaunted and I love how mine came out. Peep it!Right HandLeft HandThat is one fiery manicure! All righty, here are the specs:Base is RBL Yellow Fever, one coatMarbling is with Daisy Does It and China Glaze Riveting. This was super fun to do and I loved how it came out. Too bad the sun wasn't playing that day. I can only imagine how blazingly bright it would have been! That will do it for today, guys. I'm off to get ready for my yummy birthday sushi dinner!Thank you for coming by and have a wonderful day.
