Stupor Bowl Symbolism: Madonna's 13 Minute Sermon http://mediamonarchy.blogspot.com/2012/02/stuporbowl-symbolism-madonnas-13-minute.html http://mediamonarchy.blogspot.com/2012/02/stuporbowl-symbolism-madonnas-13-minute.html Tue, 7 Feb 2012 04:09:00 +0000 from vigilantcitizen.com: A week before the Superbowl, Madonna described on Anderson Cooper the spiritual importance she attributed to her halftime show: "The Superbowl is kind of like the Holy of Holies in America. I’ll come at halfway of the 'church experience' and I’m gonna have to deliver a sermon. It’ll have to be very impactful.” It is rather appropriate that this Kaballah-intiate referred to the Superbowl as the “Holy of Holies” as it was the name of the most sacred place in Solomon’s Temple. No one was ever permitted to enter the Holy of Holies but the High Priest. This privilege was only granted on the Day of Atonement, to offer the blood of sacrifice and incense before the mercy seat. Madonna’s analogy was therefore telling of the mindset behind her performance... When taken individually, the symbols described [here] can be simply considered as “cool-looking” and most Superbowl viewers did not give them much attention. The packing all of these signs and symbols in one comprehensive 13 minute performance cannot however be dismissed as “random images”. Quite to the contrary, the combination of all of these symbols form a whole and define with great depth the underlying philosophy and Agenda of those in power " the Illuminati. Madonna’s embrace of the Illuminati symbolism discussed on this site coincides with her signing with Interscope Records, one of the main purveyors of Illuminati symbolism in the music industry. Her halftime show performance can therefore be considered as the “launching” of her three-album (and 40 million dollars) relationship with the prominent label. Madonna’s Superbowl performance has shown that, despite the fact that she is an industry icon and that she pioneered most of the themes modern pop stars still exploit, she still needs to fit the mold and to embrace the same symbolism rookie pop stars. Laced with profound imagery, Madonna’s halftime performance was a massive Illuminati ritual, one that was witnessed by billions of viewers. On this Superbowl “Day of Atonement”, Madonna, the High Priestess of the Illuminati industry, entered the Holy of Holies of America and delivered a 13 minutes sermon that was heard by all…but understood by few. Sadly, who knows when we'll get one. Well, I suppose the members of Phantogram know, but that doesn't help me, now does it? Late last year, they released the short Nightlife EP. That's where you'll find Don't Move, which begins the following poppy playlist. I say 'pop' in a good way. All of the sunshine we've been having here in Portland keeps tricking me into thinking it's almost spring. And then the cold wind whips by and I realize winter isn't done with us yet. ah well. Just Another Day http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogspot/shNf/~3/fTw-GrU_UxU/just-another-day.html http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogspot/shNf/~3/fTw-GrU_UxU/just-another-day.html Tue, 7 Feb 2012 02:03:00 +0000 It's been a looooong day.  And for pretty much the entire time I've been awake (which was waaaaay longer than usual due to getting called into an 8 a.m. meeting at school that definitely wasn't scheduled for my convenience), I've felt like I have Mexican jumping beans in my heart.  The good news? I picked up an event monitor from my doctor late last week, so at least I could inundate them with recordings of my heart acting weird. (Seriously. The monitor holds ten events, and I filled it up and played it for them three times. Not that the "events" were different from each other, but I wanted to make sure the doctors understood that it wasn't just once or twice in a day that I had little spells. It was all frickin' day. And they still got just a teensy percentage of what I experienced. But they can see the log of times and know that I was recording them at regular intervals over the day.) The bad news? Apparently I was fooling myself when I convinced myself that the palpitations were caused by the Adderall I was taking. But I quit the Adderall back in December, and while for awhile I had fewer occurrences, it clearly didn't make everything all better.  Everyone has those occasional palpitations where you feel like your heart skipped a beat. I've had those for years, dating back to when I was pregnant with Ellie, which was the first time I got checked by a cardiologist. But I'd have just one or two palpitations at a time, and then go hours if not days and weeks before having another one. Something changed in December (or was it late November? I don't remember now.) when I first had 24 consecutive hours of feeling like someone had taken my heart into their fist and was somewhat randomly squeezing and shaking it  wildly.  Best I can tell, they get triggered when I overdo things. Yesterday, I had a pretty good day and was even able to get out into the sunshine and distribute flyers for our school's used book sale in a nearby business district. ( For the locals: Multnomah Village.) The first weekend Scott had his kidney stone issues? I had three days solid of it. (But I was a good wife and didn't mention it since I knew it wasn't as urgent as what he was going through. :)  Anyway, it's apparently "just" a regular arrhythmia with early beats followed by the strong beat that's what I really feel. Not that I've heard it from a doctor yet, but the technician who took the recordings over the phone assured me that's all it was. And googling palpitations and early heartbeats, which is what the technician said she was seeing on the strips, makes it clear it's all pretty benign. Which is good. Except it probably means there's nothing to do for it and it's somewhere between uncomfortable and painful, exhausts me when it goes on and on, and keeps me feeling dizzy and light-headed while it's going on. Gets worse when I'm active, especially if you consider "talking" or walking to be active. More news when I have it. I'll be leaving a message for my doc tomorrow to try to touch base with her. I'm guessing that it'll be yet another thing that makes multiple of my docs look at the data and say, "Hmmm ... very interesting." I'm so ready to stop being so interesting to doctors!     Catholics against condoms http://bojack.org/2012/02/catholics_against_condoms.html http://bojack.org/2012/02/catholics_against_condoms.html Tue, 7 Feb 2012 01:28:00 +0000 These guys are funny. The game turned with 6 seconds left, as the refs called goaltending against the Blazers on a clean block [see video]. The Blazers never recovered in overtime. If you want a night to complain that the refs cost the Blazers the game, this is it. The Blazers were again led by the red-hot LaMarcus Aldridge (39 points, 6 rebounds), with Wesley Matthews (18 points, 4 assists), Nicolas Batum (13 points), Jamal Crawford (17 points) and Marcus Camby (8 points, 15 rebounds) supporting him. The Blazers started out hot in the first quarter, taking an early lead. Aldridge brought his nightly game-face, hitting shots from the left, the right, and down the middle. At the other end, Durant helped keep OKC close. Late in the quarter, the Blazers held an 8 point lead, but OKC hit 6 quick points to close to within two after the first. Not good when OKC had 7 turnovers. OKC quickly completed the comeback and took the lead early in the second. The Blazers were their own worst enemy, repeatedly fouling players while in the act of shooting, making the penalty irrelevant. OKC tried to pull away, but the Blazers deftly took advantage of their mistakes and misses to play to a standstill. However, the OKC big guys wrest control of the game through rebounding, Behind a 30-17 first-half rebounding advantage (including 9 offensive), OKC leaves the court with an 8 point lead. A real killer for the Blazers? They were 3-9 on FT's, to OKC's 12-14. Same old, same old to start the third, as OKC quickly jumped to a 12 point lead, mostly on dunks. Finally, Portland fought back, with Alridge helping them score the next 13 points to take the lead. But with their energy expended, OKC regained control, capitalizing on rebounding and Blazer mistakes (more botched fast breaks and poor guard play) to lead by 12. However, the Blazers close the quarter well, scoring the last 6 points to stay within 6 after three. Nobody in the GDT could figure out how the Blazers won the third quarter. OKC tries to push the lead as the fourth quarter opens, but the Blazers will have none of that. The bench, led by Nic Batum, cut the lead to one point with 8:30 remaining. Again, their energy ran out, as OKC dunked their way to a bigger lead again... but not for long, as Aldridge and Batum fought back to take the lead with 6:11 left. The teams traded buckets until Aldridge pulled the up-and-under move for a 4 point lead with 3:30 left, then added two FT's for a 6 point lead with 2:15 left. However, OKC's defense pushed Portland from the hoop, and OKC tied the game with 1:00 left. Crawford hit a jumper to take a two point lead, but OKC had a shot to tie. KD goes for the layup, and Aldridge cleanly blocked it, only to be called for goaltending. Batum was blocked, and we headed to overtime. Overtime is a pretty predictable affair for the Blazers. They try hard, but can't hit shots, and eventually came up short. Credit to OKC, who took full advantage of the gift provided by the half-court referee. Revisit the box score, then stay tuned for Dave's recap and Ben's media row report. We all have a day off and a breather, and the Blazers are back on the court Wednesday night, hosting the Rockets. -- Tim Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge is called for a goaltending violation on a... http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/2/6/2781677/portland-trail-blazers-forward-lamarcus-aldridge-is-called-for-a http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/2/6/2781677/portland-trail-blazers-forward-lamarcus-aldridge-is-called-for-a Tue, 7 Feb 2012 00:58:00 +0000 Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge is called for a goaltending violation on a critical fourth quarter possession when he appeared to block a runner by Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant. Shortly after 6 pm, with red-and-black flags waving, several dozen protesters left Colonel Summers Park, as promised, for an anti-police-brutality march that had the Portland Police Bureau concerned enough that it sent out a pre-emptive arrest warning earlier in the afternoon. The marchers were chanting in unison, “NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE, FUCK THE POLICE!” And, yes, they were mostly members of the anarchist Black Bloc crowd, dressed in the usual black and with bandanas over their faces. Windows were smashed. Cars were tagged. And, also as promised, Portland cops"some in riot gear"were on hand and ready with the handcuffs. (And also with some taunts of their own.) The Oregonian reported some nine arrests in connection with the protest, an unpermitted march meant to show solidarity with the 400 Occupy protesters arrested in Oakland last month. (The Oregonian over-stated the number of protestors they counted 175, I counted no more than 80). As we mentioned earlier, tonight's march wasn't technically an Occupy march"although many of the marchers are Occupy Portland participants. And that tension was on display as the Black Bloc helped escalate the protest into a mini riot. The first incident was on SE Yamhill, when a car trying to avoid the marchers slowed to a near stop. Seeing an opportunity, masked protesters spray-painted the driver's rear window with an anarchy symbol. “Why are we spray painting regular people’s cars!?” yelled a woman from the crowd. What Is the Texas Drought Telling Us? http://davidappell.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-is-texas-drought-telling-us.html http://davidappell.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-is-texas-drought-telling-us.html Mon, 6 Feb 2012 23:33:00 +0000 So the other day I guessed that the cost of the Texas drought was ~ $5 billion for 2011 (though I didn't add up the cost of the fires.) And I wondered if droughts might be the most expensive natural disasters in the disaster spectrum. But John Fleck has been wondering about the opposite -- whether even this drought is a relative blip in the larger forces the buffet an economy. He presents this graph of the Texas coincidence economic index. It's a combination of four different metrics:nonfarm payroll employmentaverage hours worked in manufacturingthe unemployment ratewage and salary disbursements deflated by the consumer price index (U.S. city average)and finds that Texas looks pretty good by this measure. You can't even see the effects of the drought there -- though the fact that it excludes nonfarm payrolls might matter a little. The Texas GDP is $1.207 T (2010), and $5 B (if that's accurate) would be 0.4% -- a setback to an economy, but certainly not a shock. After noting that only about a thousand people in Texas are currently needing water to be trucked in, and only about 10,000 have less then a 180-day supply, John concludes:For people like me who spend our time running around with our hair on fire trying to warn the public of America’s looming water shortages, Texas seems to me like an incredibly important case study about what happens when shortage finally arrives. So what’s it telling us? The Thunder are the best team in the NBA and are so good they are also in first place in the NHL's Western Division, top ranked in men's and women's NCAA basketball, can bake a soufflé without it collapsing, and they collectively took home top prize at the Scripps Spelling Bee (Kevin Durant knows how to spell "Cymotrichous" and Kendrick Perkins can use it in a sentence). Proactive Cops Worry About "Tone" of Anti-Police-Brutality March http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/BlogtownPDX/archives/2012/02/06/proactive-cops-worry-about-tone-of-anti-police-brutality-march http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/BlogtownPDX/archives/2012/02/06/proactive-cops-worry-about-tone-of-anti-police-brutality-march Mon, 6 Feb 2012 18:59:00 +0000 Portland police, in a proactive messaging play, are sounding an early alarm over an anti-police-brutality event planned for tonight at Southeast's Colonel Summers Park"tying it to Occupy Portland and warning they'll be prepared to make "arrests as necessary." The unpermitted rally and march"in solidarity with the 400 protesters arrested last month in Oakland"is planned for 6 pm, and police are worried the whole thing will turn ugly. This concern is apparently based on fliers and handouts promoting the event. The note comes after an official Occupy rally in solidarity with Egypt late last month spilled from Pioneer Courthouse Square and onto downtown streets"something the police really don't like"bringing out one of the most forceful police responses to an Occupy event in months. Witness this selection from the cops' statement (read the full thing after the cut): Local flyers indicate this is a "a rally and march in Solidarity with Occupy Oakland and against corruption". The local literature also references the Portland Police's use of force as well. Since the occupy movement began in Portland, Occupy Portland has emphasized the need for peaceful demonstrations. Portland Police have also worked to ensure safe and peaceful events for all. Police are concerned about tonight's rally and march because the tone and content of available information is decidedly more hostile and escalating. The members of the Police Bureau are sworn to protect all people rights to free speech and keep the peace. However, we must balance the competing rights of all people in the community so that everyone‚s rights are protected. There is no permit for tonight's rally and march, but those in attendance will still be expected to follow all laws. If this does not occur, the Police Bureau will take appropriate action to include arrests as necessary.
