Quick! How many mattress store jingles do you know by heart via their radio commercials? “It’s not too late to sleep like a baby…Mattress World.” “Why buy a mattress anywhere else…DING!” Honestly, I rarely, if ever, listen to commercial radio stations – I’m an NPR Addi

Our first house, an adventure, a journey...
Stop! Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see. What…is your name? What….is your quest? What….is the air-speed velocity of an un-laden swallow? …African or European? I love Monty Python. Furthermore, I love that we totally stole the
It’s been one year since we closed on our house! Â Which means it’s time for a little bit of reflection…. It’s been one year since we crazily decided to put in an offer on *this* house - the very same weekend I was prepping for a major examination that damn near killed me. Â I think [...]
We interrupt this regularly scheduled programming to encourage you to head over to Remodelaholic.com today and check out a little mention that our Laundry Room got. Â Check it out – we’re feeling ver-klempt! Â Cassity, you’re the BEST!! Since we’re still celebrating our one year anniversary of living
These are my two favorite words in all of renovation-dom: IT’S DONE!!! As in finito, over and out, roger, over! That’s Clarence Over! BASTA! DONE! FIN! THE END! THAT’S ALL SHE WROTE….you get the picture. I should just remind you that our upstairs laundry room and adjacent hallway (whi
Can you believe it?! As of this Friday, July 16th, we have owned this house now for *one*whole*year*! And what’s even nuttier is that I’ve been writing posts on this blog for *one*whole*year*! Don’t believe me?! Check out this link for some cringe-worthy writing! Things have certainly changed in the one ye
Okay, OKAY! We’ve been busy, doing a little bit of travel, having house guests, and just generally trying to take it easy now that summer finally made it to the Pacific Northwest! However, I did want to share a few items that came home with me since I was swooning hardcore for some great finds at [...]
Your patience will be rewarded, grasshopper. You may have noticed that we have been MIA on the blog lately. Call it a combination of being busy, celebrating a wedding anniversary (yes, ours! Three years!), and just needing to avoid our house due to crazy Polyurethane fumes….let’s just say it’s been n
So I’m sure we all know the glories of Home Goods, no?  I’m a total addict and there really is no better place to find exactly what you were looking for – even if you didn’t know you were looking for it. I stopped by there recently on my way home from work without a [...]
We’re back with another installment of the Laundry makeover series!  But this is just a teaser to let you know that we are *finally* onto installing the cork flooring! But rather than give you the full reveal (which will probably take a couple more weeks due to work schedules, installation, poly-ing, timing, etc.)
While you’re waiting for us to finish up the Laundry Room makeover (and you’re being very patient, I might add!), I thought I’d give you a sneak peek into our next “pet project”. You could actually call it a “potty project” just don’t leave me floating….haha! Sorry,
Since we planted our vegetable garden, we’ve been getting a *lot* of questions about our compost. This is actually pretty exciting because even *we* were super surprised at how easy it ended up being and, honestly, we didn’t do half as much work as some people and we were still pleased as punch at how it [...
We’re back with another installment of our dirty laundry (and, hey, while you’re here, we have a few clothes that need folded and ironed, so anytime you want to get to that would be great). If you’re just joining us, then you know that we have a Laundry Room that needs some serious functionality injected
OK, I admit it, I am on a green kick lately! Â It may or may not have involved me accidentally mixing Ammonia and Bleach when I ran out of one toilet cleaner and swiped the next bottle in line to create some pretty noxious chlorine gas….oops! Â All I can say is that it was a [...]
It is a truth universally accepted that to write a blog, you must first read blogs and give love and kudos where you can before you can really begin to understand the world of blogging. Â Lately, I’ve been finding some dam-fab-u-lous blogs and I got all jazzed when I ran across Cassity’s website, *Remodelaholic.
….and we couldn’t be happier about it! Yup, the A/C man is here to install our much-needed central air conditioning system! We are so excited! Though, to be honest, we do feel a little weird about having the AC installed on such a wet, rainy day here in the Pacific Northwest…
Cabinetry.  Buy it for looks, but it for life.  No, wait….that’s sinks.  Or is it faucets? Well, regardless, purchasing cabinetry is always going to be a big-ticket/lifer item!  So when I say we were pretty thorough in our search, I’m not lying!  It took us 9 months of hoofing it around town to deci
Kermit was right – it’s not easy being green! But I’ve figured out one way that it’s *super* easy to be green! Re-usable grocery bags!! Yes, I have finally *finally* purchased re-usable grocery bags to cart my goodies home from the store and it’s as easy as….well….easier than
Since we first moved into our house, Dr. J and I have completely fallen head-over-heels in love with our second floor laundry room! Since it’s on the second floor, it has cut down on that pesky step of having to drag clothing all the way to a basement or even to the first floor! Not only that, but [...]
Dr. J and I were sitting around recently looking at all of the work we’ve done to our house and realized that we have done a ton of crap to this house! It’s been 9 months since we’ve been here and we are still far from finished! We’re constantly making mistakes learning as we go and we’r
It’s been six months since our beadboard bar makeover and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! It’s held up really well to a fair amount of abuse, but we felt like it was missing something: ….can you guess what it is? Yup, we *finally* purchased barstools to go with our, ahem….BAR!Â
With all the talk of warmer weather and summer just around the corner, I noticed the Coffee Table in our family room was starting to look a little dreary and a little dark on dark on wood on wood.  Here is the wintry Coffee Table-scape I started with: So I “shopped my house” looking for items [...]
Dr. J and I love food, love to eat, love to cook, but hate gardening! That’s kind of a problem when you figure that the very *best* vegetables don’t come from the grocery store – they come from your garden! We are such food snobs, in fact, that I hardly ever eat tomatoes anymore that are [...]
This past weekend, Dr. J and I decided to take a break from the usual house projects and took a little respite away from the home in our own fair city of Portland, Oregon. Â For the first time we were able to take a little R&R for ourselves and pretend to be tourists! Â While we [...]
Because we spend sooooo much time doing house projects, I don’t often have the time to really write about another passion of mine: being green! Not green with envy. Not green with overflowing cash in my pockets. Green as in being environmentally friendly! And can I just say one thing? Kermit was right; it
Swoon-Day, Swoon-Day, Swoon-Day (think Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!) I’m starting a new series here at Tell’er All About It: Swoon Day! It’s a day when I just swoon about one thing swoon-y-rific, whether it’s a picture that has me totally inspired or an idea that I’ve heard and just think is too
This is a test… GK3ZBG4NBW9Z This post will be deleted upon completion of the test…
Gimme a break, gimme a break – break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat Bar! It’s sad, isn’t it, how much the Millenial and GenX’s brains are completely cluttered with marketing jingles and jams, isn’t it? That’s it! We’ve had it! Enough house work! Why did we buy this house any
It’s finito! The Guest Room is finally finished and we can finally break out the good china and start singin’ “Be Our Guest” like the Broadway singers we are….not! Not only does this transformation look like a million bucks, but it smells better than its former “Smoking Allowed”
And by “Crown” I mean “Molding”. As in the “crowning achievement” of our Guest Bedroom. And here is a question for the ages – is it molding or moulding? I think it depends upon who you ask, but I’d just like to say that here at Tell’er All About It, we swing both ways. J
